Get ready rangers for another showstopping and jaw dropping story of this years musical, Honk! With Eric Toalson and Kelsee Avery starring in this adaption to The Ugly Duckling, it’s bound to be a musical to remember.

This January’s musical Honk!, is a retelling of the traditional ugly duckling story turned into a musical with singing and dancing. It follows the young ducklings journey of getting lost and ultimately finding his way home as well as finding himself.

The musical is showing much promise to be a fun filled night of joy, relaxation and surprise for all students and families who come and take part in the event. A lot of work has been put into the production to make it all come together. The crew has been working tirelessly since November on improving acting techniques, organizing dance choreography and transitions, building the set, and programming the lights. The team has also taken care of costumes and makeup for each individual character.

Different from the past year, Honk!, is said to be a very playful and relatable story that brings kids back to their childhoods whereas last year’s musical was wonderful but a bit more intense with a deeper meaning. Therefore, not only is Honk! promised to be a sweet, classic tale brought back from our earlier years, but it’ll be a visually appealing and joyful musical that’s sure to bring happiness to the hearts of many.

“It’s a lot of fun and there really isn’t a boring moment. There is always something fun and interesting visually. The teacher, Ms. Winner, is really good at costume making which are all straight out of the 50’s, and it’s really a visually beautiful play.” said Kayleigh Mans, participant in the musical.

Honk!, the musicalwill premiere on the CHS stage on Jan. 19 at 7  p.m.

With music by George Stiles and book and lyrics by Anthony Drewe, this light-hearted play is a retelling of the story, The Ugly Duckling.
