Chicago Cubs take World Series

This 2016 World Series was one of the most intense and most interesting championship series of all time. The Chicago Cubs faced off against the Cleveland Indians. Chicago had not won a world series since 1908, and Cleveland still has not won a world series.

The first game started in Cleveland, Ohio at Progressive field, home of the Indians. The first game of the series gave the Indians a huge boost in their confidence. They cruised through the first game handing the Chicago Cubs a devastating loss, and giving the 1-0 lead in the series to Cleveland by a 6-0 win.

Game two led off in Cleveland again, but this game wasn’t anything like game one. This was the complete the opposite. The Cubs got their first run scored in the World Series in the third inning. The momentum that the Cubs had was amazing. Going into the fifth inning, the Cubs were on a roll scoring three straight runs after Anthony Rizzo hit a line drive down the right field line. The Cubs sailed through this win with a 5-0 score tying up the series 1-1 as they headed back to Chicago.

Game three kicked off in Chicago, Illinois in the historic Wrigley field. The atmosphere in Chicago was electrifying. The Cubs knew that this game at home was going to be a huge key for their success in this World Series. The game was as tight as can be as they went into the seventh inning 0-0 because of the great pitching by both pitchers. Second basemen Michael Martinez scored the only run of the game to give the Cleveland Indians a nail biting win in Wrigley field.

Game four started back up in the beautiful city of Chicago. The Indians had a great amount of momentum going into game four. They had the possibility to go up 3-1 in the series. The Cubs opened up the score by 1-0 in the first inning, but the lead didn’t last too long. The Indians came back with two quick runs in the second inning. The Indians didn’t stop there. They ended up scoring five more runs by the end of the game to win the game 7-2 and go up in the series 3-1.

In games five and six, the Chicago Cubs made a remarkable comeback to push game seven in Cleveland, Ohio. This game was a winner takes all, so the game was extremely electric. Famous people such as Lebron James and J.R. Smith were there to support their home team. This game was extremely intense. Nobody could score the winning run, so the game went into extra innings. The Cubs scored two runs in the tenth inning to seal the deal and take the World Series home to Chicago for the first time since 1908.
