Round 7 of the South America Conmebol Qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, kicked off in an extremely surprising fashion.

It all started when Peru traveled to Hernando Siles Stadium in La Paz, Bolivia to face off the Bolivian National team. It is always a tough task to play in Hernando Siles Stadium due to its altitude of 11,932 feet above sea level. It makes breathing regularly tough for the visiting team that aren’t used to this altitude. The score line opened up when number 20, Pablo Escobar, scored an amazing free kick that brought the score 1-0 in the 37th minute. In the second half, Peru pushed to get the tying goal. But, with three minutes left in the match, number 10, Ronald Raldes, scored an astonishing header from a bending corner kick to ice the game and to take the three points in the table. This left them in 8th place. They were ahead of Peru by two points, and behind Chile by four points.

Next is at Roberto Melendez stadium in Barranquilla, Colombia where the Colombian National team took on the Venezuelan National team. After a great Copa America Centenario, Venezuela looked to get their first win in the tournament. The game started off with Colombia dominating the ball, but not being able to put the ball into the back of the net. Venezuela started off very shaky and not being able to get anything going offensively and fouling often. The score finally opened up when center back, Wilker Angel, missed the ball completely and leaves it for an easy cross and finished for Captain James Rodriguez. This gave Colombia the lead just before half. Soon, in the 80th minute, Macnelly Torres opens up the score by two goals with a rifling shot. With the two goal lead, Colombia had two penalties blocked by goalkeeper, Daniel Hernandez. The Game ended 2-0 with Venezuela having two players sent off with red cards. After this solid win, Colombia moved up to 3rd place in the table, along with Uruguay. Meanwhile, Venezuela stayed in last place with just one point, a tie with Peru.

The third game of the evening started in Atahualpa Stadium in Quito, Ecuador where Neymar and the Brazilian National team came to take on Ecuador after a great start in the qualifiers. The game started very shaky, even with both teams attacking well, and both teams getting shots on goal. The teams went into the dressing room with a 0-0 scoreboard at half. Neymar Jr. opened up the score with a penalty tucked into the bottom left corner in the 67th minute. Just three minutes later, Juan Carlos Paredes got his second yellow after an extremely rough. The score extended to 3-0 after Gabriel Jesus scored two wonderful goals iced the game. This game left Brazil tied for 5th with Paraguay and Ecuador in 4th, ahead by two points.

After a surprising round of World Cup Qualifying, the teams are looking forward to recover and get ready for round 8.
