Key Things about FBISD Health and Wellness Protocols

This is the state of FBISD Health and Wellness Protocols as of September 8, 2021.

A meeting was called on August 23 to discuss the need for mask mandates in Fort Bend schools. The concern about the Delta Variant grew and the community felt that a board meeting was necessary to weigh all of the risks and options concerning the safety of students and staff.

Greg Abbot’s Executive Order GA-38 prohibits local governments from having mask mandates which was a topic of conversation during the meeting. The state-wide temporary restraining orders issued by courts in Travis County restraining Governor Abbott from enforcing the parts of Executive Order GA-38 that bar mask mandates are no longer in place. This means that local governments must obey the action by Abbot. In light of this legal development, at this time, the District is not requiring the wearing of masks.  The District continues to strongly urge employees, students, parents, and visitors to wear a mask.

  • Masks are strongly encouraged whether students are vaccinated or not.
  • The District has been and will continue to do a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all schools, facilities, and buses.
  • Parents and staff are notified of POSITIVE COVID cases in schools and buildings.
  • Pre-K – 6 Virtual Learning Program opened August 30; parents applied in Skyward August 13 by 11:59 p.m.
  • Positive test results can be reported via the FBISD Wellness Screener.
  • FBISD will conduct contact tracing.
  • Practice healthy habits: exercise, drink water, eat nutritious foods, get adequate sleep.
