As the movie industry continues to expand to many different topics and genres, a popular theme in movies has been the coming of age and experiences within high school. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before has become one of the most popular movies of 2018, its audience largely made up of teenagers. Starring Lana Condor and Noah Centineo, the Netflix movie quickly gained fame from high school students for depicting the struggles of relationships and life during the teenage years.

As Lara Jean travels the ups and downs of high school, her secret letters regarding her past “flames” escape her grasp, causing problems and new romances to bloom. The relationship between Lara Jean, played by Lana Condor, and Peter, Noah Centineo, seems almost magical for teenagers who have yet to experience their first love, but with a plot with many aspects that differ for each member of the audience. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before has expressed more than just feelings of desired romance. The movie covers topics such as bullying and family problems, both are relatable for many teenagers.

In my opinion, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is very entertaining. With its fun humor and its ability to be somewhat relatable for high schoolers, the movie caught my attention from the start and kept it till the end. The comical dialogue between the characters is very well written and there are many fun characters for the audience members to pick their “favorite”. I have seen many “high school” movies, but To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before had an aspect that was different. With its energetic dialogue and covering of controversial topics, the movie stood out. Although there are a few moments that slow the movie down, it always picks back up and urges you to finish the story of Lara Jean’s problem.

I decided to ask one hundred teenagers, fifty girls and fifty boys, chosen at random in the hallway, whether they have seen To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. 44 girls and 13 boys said yes, making the the total “yes” statistic to 50 to 7. Out of the 57 who watched the movie, 43 said it was good, three said it was bad, and 11 had no preference. Based on these statistics, majority of students have seen and enjoyed To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.

Overall, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is a fun movie that catches the audience early in the movie and holds its entertainment until the end of the movie.
