One Act? For an entire play?

Sounds weird,  but they’re fun, engaging, and different too.

Tradition at Clements for over 10 years, SDOAPS, or Student Directed One-Act Plays, are a project the ‘Theater IV’ students take on towards the end of each year.

The way the entire thing works is solely based on each students’ creativity. After choosing any play, they minimize the entirety of it in order to direct a 45 minute, one act play; however, a play analysis must be submitted to Paul Shaffer, theater teacher, before any directing begins.

Typically, there are two 45 minute shows a night. This round, Jordan Mosely, Paige Lary, and Daniellle Nwosa will display their interpretations of their chosen plays. As directors, they have the option of choosing any actors that they want.

Held in the Black Box, auditions are offered to everyone; often times, the cast features people never seen before. In addition, ‘Theater III’ students run the entire play backstage, from lighting to sound to curtains. The whole spiel is quite interactive and spontaneous.

Check ‘em out February 16th, 17th, and 18th in the Black Box.
