The regular season for the National Basketball Association began on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. The 2016-2017 season is very different this year, and many new changes are expected by viewers due to the retirement of major all-star players. With Kobe Bryant who played for 20 years on the Los Angeles Lakers and Tim Duncan who played for the San Antonio Spurs, the NBA have lost two of the most famous players to ever play in the NBA. This season, most fans have been concerned about the issue of Kevin Durant leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder and going off to the Golden State Warriors. Others are expecting to see LeBron James, reclaim his throne against the newest NBA superpower: The Golden State Warriors.

The NBA kicked off games with Cleveland vs New York, Portland vs Utah, and Golden State vs San Antonio. Cleveland, Portland, and San Antonio all dominated their first night in the regular season with wins. The Warriors, the most talked about team in the NBA due to their success last season with a 73-9 regular season standing, has won two games and lost one to start off the season. The Cavaliers, also 2015-2016 NBA Champions, are 3-0 to start off the season with all-stars including James, Irving, and Love. Many hope to see more competition this season due to the same two teams making the Finals for the last two years. Kawhi Leonard, the small forward for the San Antonio Spurs, achieved a milestone opening night when playing against the Warriors for his 300th game in his six year NBA career. His victory portrays a very important moment for Leonard who has more wins (235)  than any player in the history of their first 300 games.

The National Basketball Association for the 2016-2017 is looking forward to a competitive and entertaining year with excellent performances by some of the most famous players and teams. Stay tuned to this season, and we will see who wins the Finals this upcoming June!
