NHS veteran activity lasts whole month

All around the world, there are thousands of people glorifying America as a nation of liberty, freedom, and opportunity; however, this life they crave and Americans take for granted is credited to those who are never seen. To those who are never heard. To those who show nothing but courage and respect in the work they do. This Veteran’s Day, on November 11th, raise your flags, take off your hats, and honor the soldiers, marines, and pilots who are fighting and have fought so bravely for our country.

With this very respect in mind, Clements NHS is hosting their very first Veteran’s Event consisting of 3 activities, one of which will last the whole month, to celebrate the sacrifice veterans have made for this country. Starting next Monday, November 7th, there will be a boxes around the school in which students can donate supplies veterans are in need of.

This drive will last one month.

In addition, NHS Officers will be manning a table next to the stage at lunch where they will supply construction paper and markers so that students and faculty can write letters to veterans sharing their thoughts and gracious thanks for all they have done.

Lastly, Friday is a spirit day themed ‘Red, White, and Blue’.  To make this spirit day more unique, NHS is having an ‘add-on’ to the spirit day to make it ‘aWEARness Day’ for which all the members and officers will make and wear signs that have an inspiring quote or fact about veterans written on it.

The event is in partnership with the Michael E. Debakey VA Medical Center, a care facility that houses veterans and cares for injured soldiers. All the donations collected for the drive will go towards this organization, and all the letters written will be personally delivered to the veterans at this care facility.

NHS is looking forward to collecting hundreds of items, writing many of letters, and experiencing a respectfully spirited Friday!
