Choir had its annual Coffee House on Friday, Oct. 20 at 6:30 p.m. The small admittance fee included snacks and performances from talented individuals for the people who came to watch.

The Coffee House happens every year and raises money for the choir department while also providing its attendees with an entertaining evening. This year, the choir department had new directors, but the Coffee House was as enjoyable as it had been every year, with the students in the program putting their best foot forward.

Senior Sol Porecca’s performance of “Golden Years” was very impressive, and though her voice was amazing, her stage presence is what made her performance all the more engaging. Having had many major roles in theatre productions, Porecca’s talent was no surprise to those who know her. She drew many away from their conversations and food to watch her perform.

Junior Sofia Paoletti and senior Andy Wu also garnered a lot of attention with their performance of “From the Start”. Their voices complimented each other very well, and they performed in a way that brought “La La Land” to mind, using dance, facial expressions, and light and fun vocals to convey a story through their performance. The song chosen was a perfect Coffee House song as though no one could tear their eyes away from the pair. The light and joyful music was perfect to enjoy with coffee and snacks.

With a crowd filled with attentive guests, the Coffee House was a success due to the engaging nature of the singers and the bustling ambiance. The event was very relaxed and comfortable, and people of all ages were able to identify songs they knew due to the variety of genres and different singing styles of the performers. It was a memorable night that allowed the students to let loose and perform with no restrictions, ultimately raising $850 for the choir.
