It is now time to apply for the HOBY Award. The Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) is the nation’s foremost youth leadership development organization. HOBY programs provide youth with unique leadership training to make a better world.

Every spring, more than 9,000 deserving high school sophomores from across the country are chosen to represent their high schools in HOBY State Leadership Seminars. The seminars allow students to recognize their leadership talents and apply them in becoming effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, and community. Selected students attend the three day seminar and participate in hands-on leadership activities, meet leaders in their state, and explore their own personal leadership skills while learning how to lead others and make a positive impact in their community.

The Gulf Coast HOBY conference this year will be June 10 – June 12, 2016.  Clements 10th grade students who are interested need to stop by the Commons Office and pick up an application.  Applicants must write a 100 word essay on “The Most Challenging and Rewarding Aspects of Being a Leader in My School and Community”.

All essays and applications must be turned in to Mrs. Klemstein, in the Commons Office,  no later than 3:00 p.m., Wednesday November 5, 2015 .  A screening committee will read all essays and choose the top 8.  Those top eight will be interviewed by the selection committee with  only one student from Clements selected, so apply. For questions, see Mrs. Klemstein in the Commons Office.
