Impeachment

At any given moment, there are countless events occurring all across America. It’s important to fully understand what they mean and their impact on our country. At the moment, the impeachment of President Donald Trump has been a hot topic.

Impeachment is the process by which the lower house of a legislature brings charges against a civil officer of government for crimes alleged to have been committed, analogous to the bringing of an indictment by a grand jury.

Officials like the President, Vice President and all Civil Officers of the United States are removed from Office for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

Recently, President Trump has been accused of pressuring the president of Ukraine to dig up information on previous Vice President and potential 2020 Democratic candidate, Joe Biden. A whistleblower with firsthand knowledge of the incident came forward with information dealing with President Trump’s dealings with Ukraine. Trump has referred to the whistleblower as “crooked” and has condemned those who have reported on the complaint. Additionally, President Trump publicly called on China to investigate Biden as well. As of now, officials are still working on their inquiry and the whistleblower is set to speak anonymously in court soon.
