School lunches are not always healthy. According to the School of Health Policies, more than 50 percent of school lunches throughout elementary, middle, and high school are made up of fast food restaurants. Child obesity has doubled in children in the past 30 years, and the unhealthy food sold at schools is not helping the cause.

Healthy lunches also help improve academic performances in schools. Ting According to Scholastic.com, learning information depletes the brain of glucose. A healthy lunch refuels this supply. A lot of students in school are prone to falling asleep in class or not paying attention to the teacher. Eating a nutritious meal will allow students to stay awake and be more alcafateriaert. Eating sugary and fatty foods will only make the children more lethargic.

These unhealthy eating habits may also follow them into adulthood. Because eating habits are acquired during childhood, the way they eat in school, they will most likely eat for their whole lives.
This is why parents and teachers need to instill positive nutrition habits at a young age. Eating healthy, instead of the opposite, should be the norm at schools.
