The Roundup hosts first spirit week contest

Abby Gutierrez, Editor In Chief

Homecoming week is officially taking off with the annual CHS Spirit Week! This year the Roundup editors are bringing something new to the homecoming festivities. In honor of Homecoming, the newspaper staff is encouraging school spirit by rewarding the classes with the most enthusiasm for Hoco 2k17!

How can you participate?

  1. First things first, show off your school spirit by dressing up according to the designated theme of the day.
  2. Students will have the opportunity to submit one group, class photo, with the teachers permission, in their first and second period classes of the class decked out in their best school spirit outfits.
  3. Your teacher will then email the picture to Mr. Clayton before 5th period, and the newspaper editors will vote on the best picture.
  4. The best class picture will be posted on The Roundup at https://chsroundup.com and our twitter @chsroundup, and the winning class will get donuts delivered to their classroom the next morning during their class period.
  5. Classes can compete Monday through Thursday, and Thursday’s winning class will receive their donuts on the following Monday.

What are the Rules?:

  • First and 2nd period classes can participate.
  • Teachers may submit only one picture per class.
  • Only 1 winning class per day.
  • It is possible for classes to win more than once in a week.
  • Pictures must be emailed to Mr. Clayton before 5th period each day in order to qualify.
  • Teachers, when you email me your photo of your class, please include your room number, class period, and the number of total people, including teachers and students, in the class.
  • The decision made by editors of The Roundup is final.
  • All pictures submitted will be made available to be used by The Roundup and CTV.
  • The winning class will be notified by their picture being posted on The Roundup  https://chsroundup.com/ and our twitter @chsroundup
  • The winning photo will be posted by the end of the school day that they are submitted.

Judging:

The Roundup editors will be judging the pictures off of creativity, quality, number of participants, and spirit exhibited. Once the editors have reached a decision, all decisions are final.

The purpose of the contest is to have fun, help build school spirit, and inform the school body on what The Roundup has to offer. So, dress up in your class colors, and traditional tourist and best character costume this week to show off your school spirit. Please help spread the word with your classes!
