Every year millions of Americans tune into FOX to watch the United States most loved sport, football. As the playoffs continue, and Houstonians continue to mourn the loss of the Texans, at least we can look forward to finals which will be held right here in H-town. The fifty first Super Bowl will be held at NRG stadium, but how will such an event impact Houston? Economically, Politically, and for the people of Houston, the Super Bowl is looking massive.

The Super Bowl is the most valuable sports event in the world and is set to generate 620 billion dollars for Houston. With high value teams set to play in the super bowl, many estimates have this year’s championships being one of the highest value games ever. Analysts down in ESPN have argued that a potential game between the packers and the New England Patriots would be extremely profitable, as both teams are regarded as football history, we can expect the initial figure of 620 billion dollars to rise exponentially. Many small businesses in the area are expecting for massive profits during the super bowl, with millions of people coming to Houston, those people are going to need placed to eat, sleep, and enjoy recreational activities, and as such many fast-food restaurants are getting ready for the influx of costumers, Chic Fil A reported that they would be extending hours and opening business even on Sunday which is rare for the company as they are usually closed Sundays. Other companies in the are like Marriott and Sheraton have been booked closed despite being some of the biggest hotels in the state.

Many residents in the Houston area near NRG have also opened their private homes for rent for Super Bowl viewers to stay, some households are renting out their homes for as much as $2000 a day, with some houses right near NRG jacking up their prices to as much as $3000. Even outside the stadium large parties and tailgaters will be taking place watching the game, as a result NRG has opened far more area for the extremely large viewing of the game. Ticket prices have risen dramatically due to the game, as a such ticket holders have taken advantage of the big game with tickets rising over 900%. While this Super Bowl will definitely be one of the biggest ever, one thing is sure, Houston is ready.

Houston is gearing up to potentially the biggest Super Bowl in history, and as America gets ready for the big game, Houston is getting ready as well. On Sunday, February 5th, thousands of people will be ready to watch the game live, and the city is ready for the much needed revenue and publicity. While most are sad with the loss of the Texans, at least we can look forward to the Super Bowl
