We have already made it to 2026, a celebration for the completion of a quarter of the 21st century! As we bid 2025 goodbye, we look forward to 2026’s busy landmark events in arts, science, and sports. Here are a couple of important events that you should take a note of:
- February- April 2026: Artemis II crewed lunar flyby sending four astronauts to test systems for future deep space exploration. It will launch from Kennedy Space Center.
- February 6-22: Italy will be hosting the 2026 Winter Olympics. New sports like ski mountaineering will be debuting this year.
- February 6-March 8: ICC T20 Cricket World Cup will be cohosted by both India and Sri Lanka. It is the premier international cricket championship for this fast-paced game format.
- March-November: Midterm elections will take place in the United States. This will mark the halfway point of Donald Trump’s presidency.

- Summer 2026: NASA Mission SunRISE launched to study solar flares and coronal mass ejections with smaller satellites being used to create a larger radio telescope.
- June-July: The FIFA World Cup, jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, will feature the first Super Bowl-style half time with Coldplay at the final in New Jersey.
- June 30: Shrek 5 will be released. This movie has already been extremely controversial across social media due to the differing animation style from the original films.
- July 4th: On July 4th, the United States will celebrate its semiquincentennial (250th) birthday.
- July 31: Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases after being delayed from the original release date (July 24, 2026). This film continues the Marvel Spider-Man trilogy.
- August 12th: A total solar eclipse will cross regions in both North America and Europe.
- December 18th: Avengers: Doomsday will feature an epic crossover between several universes associated with Marvel.
