What are you reading now that it’s October?
Okay, so for October, I just finished Metal Slinger [by Rachel Schneider], which had a surprise twist to it. I was not thinking what was going to happen was happening. And then I just started, it’s called Spellcaster [by Jaymin Eve], and it’s about a family of witches that go to like a witching academy. But of course, there’s someone that’s a beast that’s after her, and a spellcaster who is after our main character.
And then for my other book club, I’m in the middle of Murder at the Book Club [by Betsy Reavley]. So it’s about a group of women who are in a book club and mysteriously, some of them have started getting gone-d with, unalived. So trying to figure that one out.
What is Metal Slinger about?
Metal Slinger is about a girl who is just finding out that she has magical powers…she thought she was like a normal, but it turns out that she is not, and that she has some magical powers. And she is rescued by a friend of her family before she was kidnapped, while she was a young girl. So they’re kind of leading us along this, how can she…get back with her mother after being stolen and gone so long? But then the twist is, she’s not really who everybody thinks she is in the book…There’s an unreliable narrator, which is our main character.
How would you rate the book?
It was fine, but then it got really good when they twisted it. So now I want to know, well, what is she really up to?
The murder one, you know, I like a good murder mystery. That one’s good. And then I’m really liking Spellcaster, ‘cause witches…It’s brand new, and it’s getting really good reviews on BookTok, which I’ve become very cynical about. I don’t always trust everybody because they’re like, ‘This book is great, it’s the best book I’ve ever written.’ And then you’re like, bleh.
Do you have any highly anticipated books for November?
I think it’s that Quicksilver [sequel]. I’m excited about that. And then for movies, I’m super excited about Zootopia 2.
