A Note from Principal Yaffie

Rangers,

This past weekend we watched and learned of another violent attack against innocent civilians in France. These types of events leave many of us thinking about how such a terrible thing could occur. There are no easy answers. The leadership council of our GSA shares the following message: “It is during such dark times as these that we have the potential to show the greatest humanity and light a candle of peace. We grieve today for the people of France, Lebanon, and Iraq who committed no crime.”

To that message, I add that it is important to remember that the qualities that unite the vast majority of humankind are far stronger than the qualities possessed by those that choose hatred, violence, and fear as their weapons. The love of freedom, the pursuit of happiness, and the power of empathy have always unified people and resulted in our finest moments. As a show of our unity with freedom-loving people across the globe, all of our Fort Bend ISD high school students will be wearing red, white, and blue on Wednesday, the shared colors of our nation and of France. I hope that you will participate in this show of support for the people of France, America’s very first national ally, and those affected by violent attacks across our Earth.
