Blast from the Past
September 23, 2015
As history tends to repeat itself, so do trends in the fashion industry. From the caveman’s animal skin all the way to today’s teens in their leggings and big t-shirts, fashion has evolved overtime and the funny thing is that many people don’t realize that a huge portion of the trends that are in today are comebacks from the early 90’s.
For instance, when
you think about that one comfy shirt that you love so much but won’t throw out, the first shirt that comes to mind is that flannel shirt. The shocking thing is that this trend started in the 90’s and has recently resurfaced and made its way into everyone’s closet. Along with that flannel shirt a perfect pair of shoes would be combat boots or even your favorite pair of converse, and guess what, those were introduced years ago and have now made a come back into style.
Think back to those summer outfits that were super cute and kept you cool during the summer. Yes, I’m talking about those crop tops and floral dresses. Did you really think that those were only today’s trends? Think again, people of the 90’s wore them all the time. Even those parachute pants and high-waisted jeans that you see so many celebrities wear in their day-to-day lives were the fad of the early 90’s.
These comebacks also make their way to beauty trends. For instance, scrunchies have become a huge hit among
st many celebrities today, but it can be traced to famous characters on TV shows, like Stephanie Tanner from Full House. Even certain shades of lipsticks were part of the iconic look that today’s celebrities have started to wear such as nude and neon.
It’s crazy to see that the trends from the 90’s aren’t much different from today’s trends. Even though there’s always a spin on the clothing item, our favorite outfits are shared through the generations.
