Variety of Halloween events set for October

It’s that time of year again. The costumes are out, candy is being bought, and Sugar Land is getting ready for Halloween. As always, there are so many things to do in October. Here are a few things that can interest people of all ages.

 

Boo on the Boardwalk (Kemah)

Boo on the boardwalk will take place at the Kemah Boardwalk from Friday, October 7th to Monday, October 31st. The boardwalk will be filled with fun for people of all ages. Get ready to be spooked at the Dungeon of Doom Haunted House. Don’t miss Freaky Friday Movie Night, Spooky Saturdays & Scary Sundays. And kids can enjoy the Little Boo Haunted Fun House. Halloween Monster Mayhem

The month of October will be filled with fun for kids of all ages at the Children’s Museum of Houston. Starting October 11th all the way through Halloween night, people can go on a trick or treat monster hunt, create black widow spiders, weave webs, create an original own monster to take home, learn the monster language, become a zombie with a brain mask, make monsters appear and disappear, and so much more! Please note that some of these events are only on certain days and in certain parts of the museum. Zoo Boo at the Houston Zoo

Zoo Boo will be taking place at the Houston Zoo from Sunday, October 16th to Tuesday, November 1st. There will be fun for kids of all ages, including a pumpkins patches, monster mural, costume parade, candy cave, and so much more! For ticket and timing information, visit the zoo website.

Magical Maze and Goosebumps Haunted House

The Magical Maze and Haunted House will take place at the Houston Museum of Natural Science in Sugar Land on Friday, October 21st, from 10am to 12pm. The museum will provide mazes, games, face painting, along with trick or treating fun at every corner. And remember to wear a costume for the Grand Costume Parade and contest. Museum of Madness and Mayhem Haunted House

The museum of Madness and Haunted House will be at The Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land on Friday, October 21st and Friday October 28th, from 7pm to 11pm. This is Fort Bend’s only teen/adult haunted house so the museum requires all visitors to be ages 15 and up, as some things can be terrifying for younger children. The haunted house features zombies, strolling characters, Wilbur’s Mine of Madness, the Dollhouse of Death, Night of the Living Dead, and the Paleontology Hall of Horror, horror mini-film. Tricks, Treats, & T-Rex at HMNS Sugar Land

Join the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences for their Tricks, Treats, and T-Rex celebration on Saturday, October 22nd and Saturday, October 29th, starting at 10am. Be sure to wear a costume for the costume parade. Later, join in the Butterfly Garden Maze where a mummy can be wrapped. Movie Under the Moon

This month’s movie under the moon will be Hotel Transylvania 2. It will take place on Saturday, October 22nd from 7:15pm to 9:30pm at the Town Square. This is an free outdoor event so bring your family, friends, and lawn chairs to enjoy the movie.

 

Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra presents Hauntcert

This year, Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra will be presenting Hauntcert, a fully costumed orchestra playing Halloween favorites. Join them on Saturday October 29th at Sugar Land Town Square from 1:15pm to 3pm for Trunk or Treat, a costume parade, and a concert filled with spine-tingling music and interactive pieces that are perfect for kids. All Hallow’s Day (Richmond)

All Hallow’s Day is at George Ranch Historical Park in Richmond, Texas. It is on Saturday, October, 29th, and the park opens at 9am. Visitors will enjoy trick or treating around the park while learning about 100 years of halloween. Later there will be ghost stories, a scavenger hunt, and even more games and activities for kids of all ages. For more information, including park admission prices, visit the park website.

Ghosts and Grub (Richmond)

The Ghosts and Grub will take place at the George Ranch Historical Park on Saturday, October 29th, from 7pm to 10pm. Join the park members for dinner and then take part in a candlelight walking tour of the Park to hear ghost stories from the past and some of the ghostly encounters told by the staff over the years. Be sure to bring walking shoes and a flashlight because the tour covers about a mile of land. Because some of the props and activities can be frightening for children, the park recommends visitors to be 12 years old or older. City of Sugar Land’s Halloween Town

This year’s Halloween Town will take place on Sunday, October 30th from 4pm to 8pm at the Town Square. Come dressed in a costume and enter Halloween Town’s costume contest. Join the town in fun games and activities planned for the whole evening. Because there will be limited parking, the city is providing a free shuttle service that will run from Mercer Stadium at 16403 Lexington Blvd., to Sugar Land Town Square from 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
