The Houston Rodeo isn’t just an event, it’s a Texas tradition that brings people together to celebrate the rodeo culture, country music, thrilling rides, and, of course, amazing food. Whether the classic sight of cowboy boots and hats, the aroma of fried treats filling the air, or the sound of country music, the Houston Rodeo is a powerful symbol of Texas pride.
“It’s such a big tradition in Houston, so I feel like it allows me to truly experience what it’s like to be a Texan, by being able to do things like dress up and listen to country music,” freshman Sandy White said.
Many people enjoy the rodeo because of its vast popularity; students get the opportunity to socialize outside of school and partake in fun activities, all while contributing to the Texan spirit.
“My experience at the rodeo was great,” sophomore Valentina Ross said. “I think it was really fun. I got to see a lot of my friends, socialize with new people, and eat really good food.”
The Rodeo is home to a wide variety of carnival rides that make the experience unforgettable, including the Ferris Wheel, the Heidi Coaster, and the Slingshot.
“I went on a lot of rides at the rodeo but by far my favorite ride has to be the Ferris wheel,” freshman Sadhana Suresh said. “It’s just so classic and fun.”
Another big part, some might say the most important one, of the Rodeo is the concerts. Popular country artists from all over come to the Rodeo to perform their music for the Texan audience.
“I had a really good time, I just went to the shows,” Ross said. “I saw Zach Top and Parker Mccollum in concert and it was really fun. They were great performers and it was a great memory to experience it with my best friend.”
The Rodeo is an amazing experience for people of all ages, and it is truly an unforgettable experience.
“It symbolizes being a Texan because everyone dresses up in country attire, listens to great music, and most importantly has the community come together,” White said.
