In honor of Valentine’s Day this month, what are your top three romance books of all time?
I think for romance books, I definitely fall into either a classic or a fantasy. So I do love “Doctor Zhivago”, which is kind of like a romantic tragedy, a little bit Romeo and Juliet. And then I also like the ACOTAR [“A Court of Thorns and Roses] series. For fantasy, sci fi, the “Shatter Me” series, I think they’re a slow burn enemy to lovers kind of romance.
February is also Black History Month. Are there any books that feature African American protagonists or are written by African American authors that you recommend?
I love Tiffany Jackson and then of course, Nick Stone. I’ve got them featured on our Black History bookshelf by the door. I’ve got a couple of Maya Angelou. It makes me sad to think that she’s no longer with us, but I’m happy that she left us so many great words.
What upcoming library events are there before spring break?
We just finished with Lunar New Year and then we did Crepe Day. The library is getting ready to help support IFest [and] we’ll be working on Henna Club. I’m going to be putting some stuff into Schoology for Read Across America.
What about for the start of Ramadan?
So I was just told yesterday that I’m not allowed to open up the upstairs library because we don’t have enough subs for upstairs. But I’m definitely going to hold part of the library for students who are in observance and cannot eat or drink water. So I want them to have a place to go so they don’t have to be around that.
