Q: How do you show kindness to your students?
A; I try to show kindness to my students by understanding my students’ perspective and what they are going through in a typical school day as well as outside of school. I try to approach each day with empathy towards others and hopefully that helps my students feel more comfortable and confident in my classroom.
Q: What does nomination for the kindest teacher in the school mean to you?
A: It means a lot to me that students I have taught, and others think of me in this way. We have so many kind teachers at CHS it is an honor to be thought of in a positive way.
Q: What advice do you have for people who want to spread kindness, at school and in the community?
A: Every day you have to make the decision to choose kindness. It is not always the easiest option while dealing with certain situations in our lives, but you will never regret being kind to someone. Every interaction that we have with each other is a chance to spread kindness, as well as show empathy and compassion.
Q: Do you think it is important for students to be given opportunities to vote, and why?
A: It is very important for students to be given opportunities to vote. It allows students to feel as if their voice is heard and they have a say in what is going on around campus.
Q: Give me a concession speech, after your loss in the election.
A: It was an absolute honor to be nominated as one of the kindest teachers on campus and I am so grateful to work with students and colleagues that promote kindness daily. Clements students are the kindest students I have ever taught, and I am so thankful I spend my day with them. Ms. Badillo is such a wonderful, kind, and impactful teacher; I love that she was selected as the kindest teacher on campus!
