Fans all over the world are saying goodbye to Taylor Swift and her iconic Eras Tour this December after over a year of shows. This tour has meant so much to so many people, and while it has greatly affected the fans, it has also had a huge impact on the U.S. economy and economies across the globe. Breaking records and setting them, Taylor Swift has secured her spot as one of the best artists and performers of all time. Whether you were there trading bracelets and waving your hands in the crowd or you were at home watching a live of the show on your phone, the fans were connected by the lyrics Swift wrote to create a world just for them.
The Eras Tour, performed by Taylor Swift, a group of talented dancers, her background singers, and band, consists of almost a 3-hour-and-a-half-hour show, and that’s not even including the openers! The show takes old and new fans on a journey through Swift’s albums, or more obviously known as “eras”, and is a setlist of 44 songs. The fans buy extremely expensive tickets and outfits; traveling to see the show, and buying food and merch at the venue has caused a huge growth in not only Swift’s pockets but has helped boost the U.S. economy. People who traveled to see the show had to pay for plane tickets, hotels, gas, etc. The stadiums themselves created hundreds of jobs for the workers whether they were selling merch or they were doing security, and all of those buying stuff for their concert outfit contributed to the overall sales in the economy to increase. Of course, that was not the goal of the tour, but while catering to the fans, The Eras Tour was able to contribute so much more than just a few nights of fun.
Not only were fans given an unforgettable experience, but the Friendship Bracelet trend was a way for fans to connect and make friends. These bracelets started out from the song “You’re On Your Own, Kid” and have translated into one of the biggest trends of the year, and not just for the Eras Tour. People began to start making them for anything they were a fan of, like football games, TV shows, and movies, and it really picked up again when other tours came around. A lot of Swift’s fans were introduced to some more great music if they hadn’t already known the openers. Fans were lucky enough to experience people like Sabrina Carpenter, Gracie Abrams, Beabadoobee, the band Paramore, and so much more incredible entertainment. The trading of friendship bracelets became a staple at any concert that caters to teenage girls, and became another way to make friends who already have a main interest in common!
Taylor Swift’s music has always been for mainly an audience of women, so it was no surprise that this concert was attended by mostly a female fan base. This concert was a huge way for women to express their love for Taylor and her songs without being judged by those who claim that she “sucks” or “doesn’t have good music.” Swift was able to captivate millions of young women across the world, making them feel seen and heard, speaking to them through her songwriting. They were able to experience seeing someone who had such a huge impact on their life, leaving them with memories of a night they will never forget.
New fans or old fans, old or young, Red stan or 1989 stan, everyone was able to feel at home at the Eras Tour. With it coming to an end, it will go down in history as one of, if not the best tour of all time, and not just because of the money it made, but because of the way it touched fans’ hearts around the world.
