A simple mistake made by a teammate led to Lexi Vance, a sophomore who participates in varsity soccer and runs in track, experiencing a devastating injury.
During a game with her club team, Vance tore her ACL. She was faced with a long recovery but she has done many things to prepare herself to come back and participate in the 2024-2025 soccer season.
“The process is very slow but it’s because they want me to gain all my muscle back and my knee to move all degrees,” Vance said.
Despite the fact that Vance has been faced with a lengthy process on the path to recovery, she has done a great deal of things in order to get herself ready for the beginning of the season.
“I go to physical therapy twice a week and I juggle so I can get touches on the ball,” Vance said.
She has been working on rebuilding the muscle in her leg and getting used to the sensation of the ball again in order to prepare herself for her return. While this has not been an easy process, Vance will be back on the field by January at the latest.
“If I had to give one piece of advice to others who are coming back from an injury, I would say it happened for a reason,” Vance said.
