The Homecoming Dance was held on Saturday, September 21. This year many students attended the dance and it recorded the highest number of ticket sales.
“I think my biggest goal this year, or all Student Council’s biggest goal this year was to get more attendance and have it be like the best decorated one of our four years,” Student Council President Victoria Huang said.
This year, there was an external DJ who played a mix of popular songs. For the photo booth, Student Council created a backdrop and had enough budget to rent a booth that printed physical pictures, allowing many students to take home tangible memories.
“My favorite part about Homecoming was making unforgettable memories with my friends,” sophomore Layan Kharouf said. “And I also enjoyed getting ready with them because we helped each other with our makeup and our hair and our dresses.”
Despite the record-breaking ticket sales and high student turnout, Kharouf mentioned that the dance hall didn’t feel overly crowded. A courtyard movie theater, a photo booth, and various games helped distribute the crowd. These events gave students multiple options to enjoy, creating a balanced atmosphere throughout the venue.
“For the decorations at the school dance, I loved them so much,” Kharouf said. “I went to the Homecoming dance for my ninth-grade year last year and I went again this year. And I felt the decorations really matched with the Mamma Mia Homecoming theme. And I loved all the blue and all the colors. It was really nice.”
In preparation for this year’s homecoming, the student council dedicated countless hours after school to complete the decorations, ensuring everything was ready on time. Despite the urgency of the task, the team’s efficiency allowed us to take on more projects than initially planned.
“For me all the memorable moments just come about just seeing the culmination of everything and seeing how everything comes together and seeing people enjoying themselves,” Student Council sponsor Ricardo Garcia said.
