Say “Howdy” to 2016 Rodeo Concerts

   Every Houstonian knows that the rodeo is right around the corner.  People can enjoy not only the cowboy festivities, but also the carnival held in the NRG Stadium parking lot. However, it is the concerts that are a major crowd pleaser, attracting fans from around the Houston area and the world. This year, there are twenty performers coming to the rodeo including:

March 1st

  • The Band Perry is an American country group that consists of three siblings named, Kimberly, Reid, and Neil Perry. They signed to Republic Nashville in 2009 and released their first album, The Band Perry.

March 2nd

  • Chris Young is an American country singer/songwriter. He was the winner of the television program, Nashville Star, in 2006 and quickly signed to RCA Records Nashville. Soon after, he came out with the his first album, Chris Young.

March 3rd

  • Jason Aldean is an American country singer that has been signed to Broken Bow Records since 2005. Along with his triple-platinum record, My Kinda Party, he has five other albums with 14 of his 24 singles reaching number one on either Hot Country Songs or Country Airplay.

March 4th

  • Jason Derulo is an American singer, songwriter, and dancer. Since the start of his career in 2009, he has sold over 50 million singles and has achieved eleven platinum singles that includes songs such as “Wiggle,” “Talk Dirty,” and “In My Head.”

March 5th

  • Cole Swindell is an American singer/songwriter that has released one album called Cole Swindell. It consisted of four singles that all charted in the top 5 for Hot Country Songs and/or Country Airplay.   

March 6th

  • Shawn Mendes is a Canadian singer/songwriter who became famous through his song covers on Vine. He caught the attention of Andrew Gertler as well as Island Records. He then released his album, Handwritten, and his single, Stitches, was charted in the top ten in the US and Canada and number one in the UK.

March 7th

  • Miranda Lambert is an American country singer/songwriter who became famous through her journey on the television show, Nashville Star, where she came in third place and signed with Columbia Records. Her songs, Famous in a Small Town, Gunpowder and Lead, and More Like Her were in the top 20.  

March 8th

  • Pitbull is American rapper who released, M.I.A.M.I, in 2009 under TVT Records. He is known for his song, I Know You Want Me, which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100.

March 9th

  • Brett Eldredge is an American country singer signed to Atlantic Records. He has three number singles on US Country Airplay which are, Don’t Ya, Beat the Music, and Mean to Me.

March 10th

  • Luke Bryan is an American singer/songwriter who signed with Capitol Nashville in 2007. His album, Doin’ My Thing, which includes his number one singles, Rain is a Good Thing and Someone Else Calling You Baby.

March 11th

  • Darius Rucker is an American musician who gained fame by being the lead singer of the Grammy-Award winning rock band, Hootie & the Blowfish. In 2008, Rucker signed to Capitol Records and released Learn to Live that very year. Its single, Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It, made him the first black artist to reach number one on the Hot Country Songs chart since 1983.

March 12th

  • Billy Currington is an American singer/songwriter who signed to Mercury Nashville Records in 2003. Amongst his six albums, nine singles have reached number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts.

March 13th

  • Los Huracanes Del Norte and Banda Los Recoditos are two Mexican group groups. Norte currently consists of seven members and got their first gold record in 1978. Recoditos consists of fourteen members and one of the band’s singles, ¡Ando Bien Pedo!, reached number one on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart.

March 14th

  • Kenny Chesney is an American singer/songwriter and fourteen of his twenty albums have been certified as gold or higher. Chesney co-directed and produced the film, The Boys of Fall, and has received six Academy of Country Music Awards.

March 15th

  • Kid Rock is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, producer, and actor. His album, Devil Without a Cause, sold 13 million copies worldwide and is a five-time Grammy Award nominee.

March 16th

  • Jake Owen is an American country singer that is signed with RCA Nashville. His debut album produced three singles, Yee Haw, Startin’ With Me, and Something About A Woman that all reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs.

March 17th

  • Florida Georgia Line is an American country duo composed with Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard. Their song, Cruise, has been very successful and achieved the best-selling digital country song in the US.

March 18th

  • Little Big Town is an American country group made up of Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook, and Phillip Sweet. They signed with Equity Music Group and produced The Road to Here which received a platinum certification.   

March 19th

  • Brad Paisley is an American country singer/songwriter that has released ten albums along with a Christmas compilation. All of his albums received were certified as gold or higher.

March 20th

  • Keith Urban is an Australian singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, and music competition judge. When he moved to America, he became a guitarist in the band, The Ranch and released one album that produced two singles that charted on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. In 1999, he went solo and charted number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs with But For the Grace of God and You’ll Think of Me earned him his first Grammy.
