DECA is off to a great start this upcoming year. There are many opportunities for students to join this year. The next meeting is going to be Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. for 9th and 10th graders. The meeting for 11th and 12th graders will be Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
DECA’s informational meeting was on August 24 and 25, and many students showed up and joined.
“We have a lot of new members that showed up to the first meeting, more than we did last year,” DECA member Shaheer Hasnain said.
If you did not attend the meeting in September, by talking to the sponsors like Gregory Eppes can work out an arrangement for you to still be part of the club.
“Even if you can’t attend meetings or afford to be in DECA you can still be part of DECA,” Eppes said.
Officers like President Angelina Hu and Sanjana Mittal can help with other questions and concerns. There were changes to the team of this year’s officers and they will add positive changes to the club.
“We have a new set of officers that are going to run things differently,” Hasnain said.
Members of DECA encourage everyone who is part of a business course to join the club since it is beneficial academically as well.
“I feel as if my academic progress has increased since I joined DECA,” Hasnain said.
DECA integrates instruction, applies learning, connects to business, and promotes competition. It’s not too late to join DECA.
“I hope more people decide to join DECA since it is a great opportunity,” Hasnain said.
