March Madness Down to the Wire

March 2, 2016

March Madness has been known to bring families, news reporters, basketball fans, and others together to follow their favorite teams and watch them compete to be the NCAA champions.

The March Madness tradition began in Illinois with the annual High School boys basketball tournament started by the Illinois High School Association. This later grew into a statewide tournament involving over 900 schools competing in the late 1930s and it later became a college tradition.

This year seems to have everyone captivated in the fight for the winning title. The 2016’s teams to watch have been Kansas (22-4), Oklahoma (20-5), North Carolina (21-5) and Maryland (22-4). Not only do they have the best scoring and highest ranks right now, but also they seem to be fighting hard and working on reaching their full potential as a team.

There are many talented college players playing in the NCAA this year for their school, but there are a few players who’ve really stood out this season. Brandon Ingram is a freshman at Duke and has shown a lot of promise throughout this season of his college career. He has a 7’3 wingspan to complement his 6’9 frame and knows how to stream up points quickly. Ingram will be in the Top Three pick in the NBA draft.

Along with Ingram is Ben Simmons, another Freshman at LSU who currently leads Division-I in rebounding. He has great potential to release in his upcoming basketball career years through his quick ball handling skills, rebounds, and his steadfast forward. Simmons brings all the skills to the table which is what will make him so eligible for the NBA.
CBS News states, “There is no denying it… Ben Simmons is the Number One pick of the 2016 NBA Draft.
