Every year, in one of the most diverse cities, Clements High School’s international club hosts ifest. This year on April 13th, 2017, from 6:00pm-9:00pm, in the Clements’ commons is where this unique and fun event will take place. With attendees from all over the Houston area, Clement’s ifest attracts people due to the creative and exciting performances which includes dances, musical talents, skits, presentations, and other creative demonstrations from a variety of different cultures and countries. Including elaborate costumes, foods, and props, the student body incorporates one-of-a-kind solos, group dances, ensembles, and skits.

During the performances, there are many booths for the different cultures and languages that are seen throughout the student body and language departments, including Spanish, French, Vietnamese, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, and German. At the booths, the students engage with the  booth visitors on the details of the culture and language, and have a hands on activity like arts and crafts, a dance, or cultural greetings. Also found at the booths, is a photography section and props that relate to the certain language for students to take memorable photos at.

The newest feature of this year’s ifest is the incorporation of a fashion show. At the fashion show, students will model clothing from different cultures. During all the presentations, there are many restaurants and foods to eat while enjoying the entertainment. Many students at Clements participate and attend ifest because, as diverse as Sugar Land is, they enjoy seeing the exciting and one-of-a-kind performances by their peers.  Additionally, ifest promotes the awareness of these cultures to assist students to learn about the unique foods, dances, clothing, languages, and cultures of other countries.

Moreover, ifest also promotes citizens of the global world to take part and do their duty as a member of humanity. This year, a group of students from the Clements National Honors Society will be holding their Team Service Project at Clements ifest. By having a bake sale with brownies, cookies, cakes, and other sweets, the students are raising money for Syrian Refugees. These donations motivate students to take part in a beneficial cause by helping those in need.

With a busy and exciting schedule, Clements High School welcomes all to the 2017 International Festival. Come out to ifest this Thursday, April 13th to experience an exotic and unique environment of many different activities and unique aspects to learn about.
